| THE HISTORY
OF SMITHS'
Growing fruit, vegetables, and
flowers has always been a part of Steve and Micki Smiths' lives.
Steve studied horticulture at the University of Guelph and later
taught greenhouse science at a local high school; Micki
owned and operated a flower shop in Owen Sound. In 1993
they bought a 72-acre cornfield on The River Road on which to
build a new home.
Since they already enjoyed both
people and plants, it was a natural fit to plan and develop Smiths'
Apples and Farm Market- a place where families could enjoy an
outing in the country, wandering in the carefully tended orchard
and picking tree-ripened apples.
With the help of family and friends
Smiths' has prospered into a full-time operation with about 6000
trees, and offers many varieties of apples,
a Farm Market, fun family
activities , and an Artisan Bakery which makes fresh baked goods.
